The Colorado Well Spots dataset is maintained by the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) that consists of point features depicting the surface locations of wells, along with key attributes such as well API, operator information, well status, and regulatory classifications. The purpose of the Wells Spots dataset is to support regulatory oversight, permitting and inspection workflows, environmental and risk analysis, emergency response, interagency coordination, and public transparency.
<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>The Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) Well Spots data consists of over 100,000 oil and gas well locations within the State of Colorado. The well point data represent permitted locations, most of which have been drilled and completed, or drilled and abandoned. Some permitted locations were never drilled; these locations are also included in the shapefile. Well IDs and other header information are provided as attributes. The COGCC is the official repository for Colorado's oil and gas information.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
